Solar Entech Readies Power Conditioning Software

Solar EnerTech says it is looking forward to the sales and marketing boost it will get from the one-year extension of the solar ITC in H.R. 6111. The act extends the 30 percent solar energy investment tax credit for homeowners and businesses for one additional year, through to the end of 2008.

“This bill emphasizes a solar growth policy, and provides a time window for solar projects in the 12- to 18-month pipeline. This bill is clear recognition by Congress that solar energy is indispensable to our clean energy future. It can turbo-power our immediate sales to the State of California and elsewhere throughout the US,” said CEO Leo S. Young.

The timing of the extension couldn’t be better for the company - its solar module products have just begun to roll off a production line in Shanghai.

Also, the beta version of the company’s power quality software is being tested.

The software lets power system integrators design power-conditioning systems that can assist producers who generate direct current electricity and then convert that current into alternating power which requires conditioning treatments to meet the requirements of commercially operated power grids.

The beta-released software package analyzes and acts on power quality-related issues at the point of generation regardless of the type of renewable energy used. The design analyzes real-time data from sensors and responds to system variables such as transients, harmonics, sags and swells of voltage fluctuation and phase imbalances to treat  electrical output prior to commercial distribution.
