Toro to Market Biodiesel Mower

Toro has developed a biodiesel-powered mower that the company feels will beat the competition to market, Fuel Cell Works reports.

In addition, new diesel-to-biodiesel conversion kits that range from about $30 to $500 will be available in June. Toro’s new turf equipment will be delivered to commercial customers in 2008.

The equiptment runs on B-20 and is branded as “Biodiesel Ready.” Vehicles that run solely on biodiesel fuel could be on the market as early as 2009, said Steve Wood, Toro’s biodiesel project manager.

The company is initially approaching golf courses. Municipalities and sports field managers could become the next target market.

I will be happy to sell diesel to biodiesel conversion kits for 1/2 price; $15-$250. The box will contain NOTHING, because that is what is needed to convert.How do some people sleep? Biodiesel is a 100% direct replacement for petro diesel and anyone who tells you differently is a bald faced lier & could fit into the present US administration. BIODIESEL REQUIRES NO MODIFICATIONS! NONE!!

While I agree with the basic assumption that biodiesel is a direct replacement for diesel, there are some older vehicles which have natural rubber fuel lines and pump seals. Biodiesel breaks down natural rubber. I know from direct experience. Viton is the name brand of synthetic rubber lines needed to “convert” an older diesel to biodiesel. B20 (20% biodiesel) needs no conversion, no matter the age.
