As part of its strategy to improve its environmental credentials, IKEA plans to give each of its 9,600 British employees six low-energy light bulbs, which it will replace for nothing once they stop working after about five years, The Guardian reports.
Ikea is spending an initial £45,000 on the project.
IKEA is also replacing its corporate car fleet with hybrid vehicles, BBC reports. The company is purchasing 50 Honda Civic hybrid cars.
IKEA is aiming to use renewable energy supplies for its electricity and heating at all stores worldwide by 2012. It has also set a target of cutting its energy usage by 25 PERCENT by the same date.
