Since 2005, Hannaford Bros., a Maine-based grocer with more than 150 supermarkets in the Northeast, has cut fuel use under the EPA’s SmartWay Transportation Partnership by 115,000 gallons of diesel fuel, cutting emissions of carbon dioxide by 8,700 tons, The Times Union reports. How does 115,000 gallons of fuel translate into 8,700 tons of CO2.
Fred June 26th, 2007That would be 13 gallons of diesel fuel produces 1 ton of CO2. It does even weigh close to that.
