UK Budget airline Ryanair has been warned by the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency not to republish an advertisement which claimed that air travel accounted for two percent of carbon dioxide emissions, ETA reports.

The ASA says that the two percent figure is based on global, rather than UK, emissions. Official government figures put the impact of aviation in the UK at 5.5 percent of total CO2 emissions.

Ryanair says it used the international figure from a UN report on climate change because they feeel the issue is a global one. The company says it will continue to use the ad.

In January, Ryanair was forced to retract a claim that it had halved its CO2 emissions over recent years, after a BBC investigation showed it to be untrue, according to ETA.
