Z of Mercedes had to say about diesels. I have owned 2 Benz diesels and found them spectacular. The fuel efficiency to size ratio is unbeatable. I am waiting for the environmental "geniuses" here in New York to make them available for purchase. I recently rented a large Renault diesel SUV in Europe. The fuel was the equivalent of $6.00 a gallon and a tank of fuel seemed to last forever. U.S gas containing ethanol, reduces my gas mileage by at least 10%. I will be waiting for the BluTech M.B. diesel. It may be the last car I'll have to buy. (I am now 72) My current 1997 S420 has 192,000 miles on it, and on the road I get about 25 mpg.
