Fifty Sustainability Experts To Speak At Sustainable Manufacturing Summit
Sustainability experts are looking forward to sharing their carbon reduction strategies on April 8th and 9th at the upcoming Corporate Climate Response – Sustainable Manufacturing Summit in Chicago.
‘The organizations involved in the Sustainable Manufacturing Summit are outstanding and Kimberly-Clark is excited to be participating among this group of leaders in the field,’ says David Spitzley, Product Sustainability Manager for Kimberly-Clark. ‘The combination of the strong topical agenda and knowledgeable individuals involved should make for an excellent event.’
Spitzley is participating in a session on creating sustainable supply chains and will be discussing the company’s work with the Carbon Trust to develop the carbon footprints of two of its well-known UK brands: Huggies and Andrex.
Fifty sustainability experts are now confirmed to present at this event including representatives from GE, Dell, HP, Philips, Honeywell, Subaru, Johnson Controls, Cadbury Schweppes, Sharp, Caterpillar, Frito Lay, GM, and General Mills. Jim Rogers, CEO and Chairman of Duke Energy, will open the summit by discussing how manufacturers can cut carbon emissions while continuing to grow their businesses. Environmental Leader is supporting this event as a lead media partner and Paul Nastu, Publisher and Managing Editor of Environmental Leader, will be speaking at the event.
With sessions focusing on climate-friendly product development, operational response, sustainable supply chains, and waste management, the Sustainable Manufacturing Summit covers carbon reduction at every stage of the manufacturing process.
“We are looking at ways to enhance our program by what others have already done,” says Bruce Bremer, Facility Engineering Manager at Toyota, who is also presenting. “We also believe it is important to share our ideas and activities with others. We are all trying to accomplish the same thing and that is to reduce our energy cost and improve the environment. It is much easier to do this as a group than it is as individual companies.”
The summit fills an unmet need in the marketplace for companies to meet and share best practices on building carbon reduction into the manufacturing process. Attendees will include corporate directors of sustainability, environmental management, energy, corporate social responsibility, product development, and supply chain management.
Early sign-up is encouraged as the last Corporate Climate Response event sold out with over 250 sustainability professionals in attendance.
