Cassatt Joins the Green Grid
Software maker Cassatt announced its membership in The Green Grid, a consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.
Cassatt’s software lets customers use policy to actively control sets of servers, turning servers off when idle or not needed and then back on when demand warrants. By actively powering servers on and off as needed, Cassatt says its Active Response product line can cut power usage by as much as 50 percent. Cassatt also says that powering off unused servers has been recommended by several organizations including the U.S. EPA.
