Chevron seemed particularly upset to be included in Portfolio’s “Toxic 10.” They even went to the trouble of writing a rebuttal which begins with this succinct line: “There is no justification for including Chevron in this list.”

Massey is the company that spilled 300 million gallons of coal sludge into our Kentucky Rivers in Oct. 2000. The spill was 25 times the size of the Exxon Valdez spill, but did you ever hear about it? Why not? Google Massey sludge spill to see pics.
