Hillwood Makes Big Renewable Energy Purchase
Hillwood has signed a 100-percent renewable energy contract for its properties in North Texas. With the contract, Hillwood joins the EPA’s Green Power Partner list and becomes the second largest real estate purchaser in the U.S. The Tower Companies is number one.
Current Energy negotiated the contract, for 65 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy, with TXU on Hillwood’s behalf.
Beginning in February, TXU started providing 100-percent renewable power to Hillwood’s largest North Texas properties including AllianceTexas, a 17,000-acre development and Victory Park, a 75-acre development. Under the contract, TXU will secure certified renewable energy, which could include wind, solar, hydro, and biomass, to cover Hillwood’s needs.
