Delayed flights in 2007 consumed about 740 million additional gallons of jet fuel totaling $1.6 billion extra in fuel bills and emitted 7.07 million metric tons of CO2, according to a new report from the U.S. Joint Economic Committee.

The report (PDF), entitled “Your Flight Has Been Delayed Again: Flight Delays Cost Passengers, Airlines, and the U.S. Economy Billions in 2007,” finds that flight delays in 2007 cost the economy a total of $41 billion.
