Our research shows that the perils of not being viewed as a leader in the green revolution are much greater than the cost of turning away those who will feel inconvenienced in the near term. See research here:

Starwood has a history of being on the leading edge of the hospitality industry. Which makes me question why it is not going all out to lead the green way Element. When I read the above blog that said Brian McGuiness told the NY Times “consumers also expressed concern that the dual-flush toilets would not work” I was shocked. These toilets have worked in Europe for years and are common in many hotels outside of the US. Rather than believing it would be too risky and might offend potential customers, Starwood should take hold of this fantastic opportunity to educate its clients and position itself as the sustainable hospitality industry leader.

Most don't even try. Last week I was in a hotel and I turned off the AC while I was out only to return to find it not only on, but turned to max. The room was downright cold.

There needs to be a significant amount of training dedicated to housecleaning staff to achieve the potential in hotels that is possible.
