EPA to Green Brownfields with $500,000

Projects to analyze green roof systems in Massachusetts, and designing green infrastructure at a former smelter in Colorado are among 16 Brownfields Sustainability Pilots to share more than $500,000 in technical assistance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s program to green brownfields.

EPA will incorporate sustainable redevelopment into the planning, design, and implementation of the projects, with each pilot project to receive between $20,000 to $50,000 in assistance.

The EPA’s assistance will support sustainable initiatives such as the reuse and recycling of construction and demolition materials, green building and infrastructure design, energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy development and native landscaping.
