Gore Calls For ‘Civil Disobedience’ To Stop Construction Of Coal Plants

Al Gore is urging young people to stop the construction of coal plants without carbon capture and sequestration technology through acts of disobedience, Reuters reports.

Speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative, Gore said:

“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration.”

About 28 coal plants are under construction in the U.S. Another 20 projects have permits or are near the start of construction.

My take on this is that Al Gore is requesting young people to commit a crime in the name of Global Warming. How absurd. Why doesn’t the coward do something himself instead of talking about it. He wants other people to do his dirty work.

If Al Gore is truly against global warming, he should be taking action against China. They are building a power plant per week and do not have any pollution control on there units. They are rapidly becoming the largest world polluters and no one is attempting to take action against them.

Compared to what could happen, a crime is a very, very minor thing.

China is destitute. We are not. They have not reached the standard of living that we take for granted. Many would do anything to get what we have, which is a consumption level far higher than the rest of the world–enough to kill it outright. Even though China is building more power plants as well they use 5 times LESS energy per person than we do. So who is really responsible?

If he was honest, he might urge his fellow rich to cut their own energy use in half, as in his $18,000 per month electric bill. They could single handedly eliminate the need for one whole power station instantly.
