Dell is now powering its 240,000 square-foot Oklahoma City campus 100 percent with wind  energy.
The company partnered with Oklahoma Gas and Electric on the use of renewable energy and expects to avoid nearly 5,100 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

The company is also planning to reduce its global facilities’ GHG emissions 40 percent by 2015. Dell says the reductions will be achieved through energy efficiency, on-site renewable energy and partnerships with utility providers.

About 35 percent of Dell’s U.S. energy use is sourced from green power and about 20 percent is sourced from renewable energy globally, according to the company.

Dell recently extended its free computer recycling program to six additional states. A total of 18 states are now covered by the program.

Dell was one of the top purchasers of renewable energy in 2008. Last December, the company began implementing a new computer packaging plan that it says will save more than $8 million and eliminate about 20 million pounds of packaging material over the next four years.
