Rosy Blue Establishes CSR Goals

Rosy Blue Group, a global diamond and jewelry company, has released its first corporate social responsibility (CSR) report. The 2008 report highlights the company’s CSR goals that include the promotion of ethical business practices throughout the company and to reduce the environmental impact of its activities.

In 2008 the company’s key goals were to implement an awareness program of its Environmental Policy, with plans to create a control system for environmental performance measurements and a system for managing environmental programs across the group.

The CSR information management system went live in January 2008, followed by internal documentation reviews in April to June 2008. The company signed the United Nations Global Compact in June 2008, which signaled its commitment to operate responsibly and in a sustainable manner.

The global jewelry manufacturer and retailer is also a founding member of the not-for-profit Responsible Jewellery Council. Established in 2005, the group promotes responsible business practices throughout the industry from mine to retail.

Rosy Blue says its key objective is to establish baseline performance measures and set goals for continuous improvement. Currently, the company continues its awareness programs of the potential impact of greenhouse gas emissions and is setting targets for the reduction of CO2 equivalent emissions.

The company is also working to monitor consumption of energy and energy management as an integral part of it reporting, improve water and energy conservation in existing operations, minimize all emissions, and reduce the creation of waste in all operations. Other goals include minimizing the environmental impact of its logistics chain, encouraging the use of recycled materials as well as encouraging its business partners to conduct business in an environmentally responsible manner.

The company says it has to further develop key performance indicators such as the percentage change of energy used in all entities, percentage of recycled materials used in all entities and number of positive environmental reports.
