We have a food co-op nearby where things are sold by weight & you bring your own containers- bags, jars etc. Local, fresh & similar cost. When we shop at a supermarket we try to avoid stuff with excess packaging. You have a choice about what you buy.

I'm putting away my weeks groceries and when removing all the plastic packaging I am exhausted, exhausted from cutting away wrappings, tossing away the plastic trays under meat and vegtables, stripping away the plastic that holds my rolls of toiltries and recycled kitchen towels. When finished I find my recycable trash nearly filled up. This is weekly. Even taking a candy bar I find interal and external plastic wrapping. the food industry has become so dependent on plastic wrapping it is obvious they do not care about what it is doing to our earth. Don't mean so sound like a tree hugger but something has to be done and I want to do something. It's crazy, look at the local market meat section and the fruit and vedge stands, how much of the air has already been destroyed not to mention the damage that will be done in the future. Thank you for listenting to my angry frustrated babble against big corporations and our cultures dependence on plastic. Colleen Granger
