Not only does the palm oil taste 'orrible, but here in Singapore one needs to keep chocolate in the cooler. The replacement of cocoa butter with palm oil sees a granular texture take over to ruin smoothness, and a white blotchiness appear in less than an hour. Not so with other brands. I'm not the only one to switch away it seems: the shelf price is now S$3.90 cf. S$5.50 until recently. Customers have turned away in droves from another abuse of brand loyalty. What about rewarding, rather than dumping on, consumer loyalty?

Cadbury has done the right thing and should be commended for taking action in response to consumer outrage. Hopefully more companies will begin to follow suit worldwide.

This is especially good news for orangutans, who are critically endangered in the wild because of rapid deforestation and the expansion of palm oil plantations.

If nothing is done to protect them, these magnificent creatures will be extinct in just a few years.

Visit the Orangutan Outreach website to learn how YOU can make a difference!

Adopt an orangutan today! You'll be glad you did!
