Bausch & Lomb’s world headquarters in Rochester, N.Y., has achieved Energy Star status from the EPA.

That means the building uses at least 40 percent less energy than a similar building, while releasing 35 percent less carbon into the atmosphere, according to a press release.

As part of the application process, Bausch & Lomb said it conducted a “rigorous” externally certified engineering evaluation that included electricity consumption, fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and indoor air quality.

In Indianapolis, Franklin Street Properties Corp. has achieved LEED Silver status for two office buildings, according to a press release.

The River Crossing buildings were certified under the existing building certification program by LEED, which is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The buildings received new plumbing fixtures to boost water efficiency by 30 percent above the LEED-EB: O&M baseline. Landscaping water comes from a 25-acre man-made lake that is fed by storm water drains.

The property achieved a 93 on the Energy Star Portfolio Manager program.

Franklin Street Properties, which owns or manages 44 properties, said its goal is to get as many of its properties LEED certified as possible by starting with changes that require no cost or low cost or that have the potential to create savings in energy usage and other costs.
