Siemon’s 216,000 kWh Solar System Reduces CO2 Emissions by 186 Tons
The installation of a solar system at Siemon results in about 216,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year, helping the firm reduce its carbon footprint by about 373,000 pounds of CO2, or about 186 tons.
The 15,600 square-foot solar system equals the annual output of about 22 homes, according to a press release. It generates about 217 kilowatts.
Siemon, a manufacturer of IT network cabling and infrastructure, installed the solar system at its Watertown, Conn., headquarters.

In other environmental efforts, Siemon recycled or repurposed more than 900 tons of waste in 2009. That alone helped the company further reduce its carbon footprint by another 2,950 tons, Siemon said, using EPA analytical models.
