Hasbro has selected the Hara Environmental and Energy Management (EEM) solution to help the company manage and optimize its energy efficiency and natural resource consumption.

This latest effort by the toy and game maker is part of the company’s efforts aimed at environmental stewardship. Hasbro was ranked top among toy and child equipment manufacturers by Climate Counts’ climate index survey in 2009.

Hasbro selected Hara because of its technology innovation and proven track record with large-scale and complex deployments, said Jackie Daya, president of global operations, Hasbro.

Hara EEM is designed to manage and optimize energy, resources and emissions as an enterprise-wide, end-to-end “report to reduce” business process, which helps businesses identify and prioritize reduction projects while leveraging best practices across stakeholders, said Hara.

Since the launch of Hara’s EEM solution last year, the company has won contracts from leading companies across a variety of sectors including Diebold, Intuit and News Corp.

Hara also entered the enterprise carbon accounting (ECA) software market, recently landing Safeway as a key customer. Safeway said it hopes its contract with Hara will help give it insight into the size and makeup of its energy usage and carbon footprint and a roadmap for achieving further cost reductions and better carbon management.

More than $46 million in venture capital was invested in ECA startup companies in 2009, according to a report from Groom Energy Solutions. Hara was named as one of eight 2010 ECA Emerging Leaders in the report.
