Drax Power Eyes Complete Switch to Biomass
Drax Power, Britain’s biggest coal burning power station, envisions a complete switch over to biomass in the future, according to Reuters.

There are some journalists that know what they are talking about with respect to energy – Monbiot springs to mind. The rest tend to …. Well let me be kind – they ain’t as well informed as they could be – probably art graduates.
If Drax wants to shift to 100% biomass it is looking at 10 million tonnes per year. That is not available in the UK and much biomass in Europe is also being hovered up – which leaves the good old USofA which exports $250m worth of biomass to the Euros each year. Be interesting to see how long that lasts.
Suggestion to Drax – you were built on top of coal – so get real and start looking hard at CCS.
