Orange Business Services has launched a new assessment service for IT energy audits, developed with the energy management company JouleX.

The IT Energy Assessment service allows enterprises to monitor and manage how much energy is being consumed by devices and systems including desktops, laptops, monitors, servers, switches, routers, copiers, lighting systems and heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC). Use of the service can help companies cut their energy consumption and carbon emissions by up to 60 percent, Orange said. It added that clients will see a return on investment of no more than six months and possibly less than three months.

The service is being launched in France, and will later be expanded internationally.

Orange says that the service will help companies and governments to understand the composition of their energy budget. The platform uses JouleX Energy Manager software to analyze devices’ consumption, simulate savings and roll out actions to achieve savings.

In other software news, Prenova has introduced Energy Point, a platform for enterprise-wide energy management. The company says the application is the first providing organization with visibility and control of disparate automation and energy management systems in multiple buildings, from a central web portal.

EnergyPoint allows large companies to manage hundreds or thousands of facilities from a single portal, no matter what building controls platform is used at each location, Prenova says. The software can monitor daily energy use and control energy-intensive equipment including HVAC, lighting and refrigeration systems.

“We’ve used components of EnergyPoint for years to help our customers operate more efficiently,” Prenova president and CEO Michael J. Nark said. “With the launch of this application, we’re now making the technology available to others who need better visibility and want to standardize control of their facilities.”
