Commercial-grade LED manufacturer Lumenpulse Inc. has created a programmable, “pop-art” canopy of light over the stores in Cermak Plaza, outside of Chicago. The fixture is powered by 12, 35-foot-high wind turbines, which can generate up to 2,500 kwh of electricity annually.
The Detroit Windsor Tunnel, which connects the United States and Canada, has upgraded its lighting fixtures to include energy-saving LED products from Cooper Lighting. The installation should bring the tunnel’s lighting costs down by 72 percent.
LEDtronics has launched the energy-saving LED15T4 -SIW-120A T4 tube bulb. The 0.9-watt consuming LED has an E12 candelabra base and 120A input voltage. It provides 23.1 lumens per watt of energy.
GE and utility EDF Energy have received formal approval to install GE LED technology and a cabling system to illuminate London’s Tower Bridge (pictured). The new lighting will replace a 25-year old legacy system and help cut the amount of energy required to light the landmark 800-foot bridge by 40 percent.
