The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), agreed to cooperate on the advancement of more efficient permitting for wind turbine equipment and still-to-be-developed standards for wind turbine structures including towers and foundations, reports ANSI.org.

Colbert Packaging Corporation, a manufacturer of folding cartons, rigid paper boxes and paperboard specialty products, has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative(SFI) Chain of Custody Certification (NSF-SFICOC-C0038447) from NSF-ISR for its Louisville, Ky.-based manufacturing facility. Colbert’s Louisville facility is the fourth to achieve one or more chain of custody certifications, the company said.

TRI-KES, a Dallas-based sustainable commercial interior finishes distributor, has met the American National Standard for Sustainable Wallcoverings – NSF/ANSI 342, and may now distribute all levels of certified wallcoverings, including platinum, says NSF International. This is the first distributor that NSF International has qualified as meeting the standard.

QuantumFlo, a manufacturer of pre-packaged pump systems for commercial and industrial plumbing applications, has earned the NSF 61/ANSI Standard 61 and low lead compliance certification by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). QuantumFlo has also been accredited with low lead certification as required by federal legislation S.3874, the Daytona-Beach News Journal reports.

NSF International has been accredited by Brazil’s National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) to test and certify bottled water for the Brazilian marketplace. The NSF Bottled Water Certification Program performs product testing for over 160 chemicals, inorganic, radiological and microbiological contaminants, in addition to unannounced bottling facility audits, the company said.

The Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Wales, has been earned its position among the first organizations in the world to earn an ISO 50001 energy management certification, assessed and verified by NQA, reports Wales Online.

The R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has completed an initial draft of the R2 Guidance Document, and has released the document for public comment at its website. The draft aims to provide explanation about how electronics recyclers can meet the R2 Standard.

ASTM International’s new standard for photovoltaic non-concentrator system performance is now available. ASTM E284-11 – Standard Test Method for Reporting Photovoltaic Non-Concentrator System Performance provides measurement and analysis procedures for determining the capacity of a specific photovoltaic system built in a particular place and in operation under natural sunlight.

IT infrastructure supplier Atea has been ranked thirteenth on the Nordic Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index. The company said that it has implemented the ISO 14001 environmental management system along with a carbon reduction plan as part of its climate strategy.

The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) reported its recommendations following its December semiannual meeting. The NOSB is an advisory body to the Secretary of Agriculture, and the board reviewed a number of substances used in crop and handling materials, including odorized propane, sulfur dioxide, silicon dioxide, copper sulfate, ammonium nonanoate and chlorine.
