Panoramic and AtSite Monitor US Green Building Council; BuildingIQ and NV Energy Trial Commercial HVAC Efficiency

Energy management system provider Panoramic Power has partnered with AtSite, which will use Panoramic Power’s P3E to provide its clients — including the US Green Building Council’s headquarters in Washington, DC — with real-time energy usage feedback.

The cloud-based P3E system shows energy consumption at the individual circuit level and provides data on specific devices’ energy usage, to reduce energy and maintenance costs.

AtSite says it has deployed the EMS at restaurants, supermarkets and retailer facilities. Its clients include Adventist HealthCare, which AtSite says is on target to reduce its expenses by $2.9 million by 2014, while reducing its carbon footprint by 16 percent, by collecting and analyzing energy data streams.

AtSite’s own Washington, DC headquarters received LEED Platinum certification.

In other EMS provider news, energy efficiency and demand response software company BuildingIQ has signed an exclusive agreement with NV Energy to trial a new energy efficiency program concept for commercial customers.

NV Energy provides energy services to 2.4 million electric customers throughout Nevada. The two companies say they expect the program, which uses the BuildingIQ technology platform to optimize HVAC operations, to provide NV Energy customers 12.1 GWh of annualized energy savings.

The BuildingIQ system forecasts energy demand and automatically adjusts a building’s HVAC settings to continuously optimize energy use and peak loads. The cloud-based system works with existing building EMS and utility demand response systems, and incorporates weather forecasts, occupant comfort, utility prices and demand response signals in its optimization algorithms.

BuildingIQ’s customers include Australian property groups Investa Property Group, Lend Lease and and Stockland, as well as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, which is Australia’s national science agency.

NV Energy says it will roll out the program concept to leading commercial customers in Las Vegas, and will also work with BuildingIQ to identify and deliver other energy savings opportunities.

In April, NV Energy said its coal-fired Reid Gardner Station north of Las Vegas will cut its water withdrawals by more than 281 million gallons annually with a Nalco cooling system.
