Contract Wins: Navy, Phigenics and Argo, AEI and ACE, Shell and TransCanada

Water management products firm Phigenics and program management and engineering company Argo Systems are to provide water management services for seven US Navy bases. The companies will be providing the service at the Naval Academy, Washington DC Navy Yard, Naval Support Activity Bethesda, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, and Naval Support Facilities Bethesda, Carderock, Dahlgren and Indian Head. The contract calls for the evaluation of water, chemical, energy and service efficiency in all steam boilers, high temperature hot water boilers, chilled water plants and cooling water systems. It also includes helping NAVFAC Washington in the implementation of efficiency and cost-saving measures in water use and management, Phigenics says.

The first of 13 Advanced Energy Industries AE 500 solar inverters planned for installation at projects developed by American Clean Energy is now operational at the Toms River Regional School District in Ocean County, N.J. The 13 solar photovoltaic projects total 4.5MW in power capacity, the company says. The AE 500 has a 97 percent weighted California Energy Commission efficiency rating, what AE calls a wide DC operating range and the ability to produce full power all the way to 55 degrees centigrade.

Shell Canada Limited has selected TransCanada to design, build, own and operate the proposed Coastal GasLink pipeline. If completed, the estimated $4-billion pipeline will transport natural gas from the Montney gas-producing region near Dawson Creek, British Columbia to the recently-announced LNG Canada liquefied natural gas export facility near Kitimat, British Columbia. The LNG Canada project is a joint venture led by Shell, with partners Korea Gas Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation and PetroChina Company Limited.

H2O Innovation Inc. was recently awarded C$3.7 million in new contracts to provide custom-built water treatment systems and equipment to municipal end-users in the United States and Canada, as well as smaller systems to industrial clients. The company will design, assemble, deliver and install a 917 gpm nanofiltration membrane water treatment system for the city of Saint-Tite, Quebec. A second contract will see H2O build and deliver a containerized water treatment system for the town of Spencerville, Ohio.

General Electric has received contracts to supply 137 wind turbines to DTE Energy for projects in lower Michigan. GE is supplying DTE Energy with 69 1.6-100 wind turbines for its Sigel, Minden and McKinley projects and 68 1.6-100 units for its wind project in Chandler Township, adjacent to the McKinley site. DTE Energy’s total investment in these projects is $500 million. They have a total capacity of 220 MW.
