Here’s the latest news on hirings and promotions among environmental and energy management leaders.

General Motors: Doug L. Parks has been appointed to GM’s newly created position of vice president, product programs. Parks was previously executive director and group vehicle line executive for electric cars, a position he held since March 2012. He had also earlier served as global vehicle line executive and global vehicle chief executive for electric cars, including the Chevrolet Volt.

Duke Energy: John McArthur, executive vice president of regulated utilities, Mark Mulhern, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, and Paula Sims, chief integration and innovation officer, have resigned, Duke Energy said. All three were Progress Energy senior executives before the company merged with Duke Energy in early July. Another casualty of the merger: former Progress Energy chief executive Bill Johnson, who was supposed to head up the new entity, left by “mutual consent,” reports Power Engineering International. Jim Rogers, who had been chief executive of Duke Energy, got the job, and now North Carolina’s energy utilities commission is investigating the merger.

Mohawk Group: The commercial carpeting group — maker of brands Karastan, Lees, Bigelow and Durkan — has named Rochelle Routman as director of sustainability. Routman comes to the Mohawk Group from Southern Company and Georgia Power, where she served as chair of the Sustainability Working Group and environmental specialist.

Waste Management: The waste management services company has appointed James C. Fish, Jr., currently senior vice president of the Eastern Group, to the position of executive vice president and CFO upon completion of financial reporting for the second quarter. Fish will succeed Steven C. Preston, the company’s principal financial officer, following Preston’s decision to pursue chief executive officer opportunities.

EH&E: The environmental and engineering consulting services provider has appointed Elizabeth Gilman Duane to the post of associate director of EH&S compliance/biosafety practice leader. Duane, who has worked for MIT, Boston University and, most recently, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, comes to EH&E with more than 25 years experience in the laboratory safety and biosafety fields.

Massachusetts Clean Energy Center: Alicia Barton McDevitt has been appointed executive director and CEO of the MassCEC. She replaces outgoing CEO Patrick Cloney, who is leaving the organization to pursue opportunities in the private sector.
