Standards & Compliance Briefing: American Carbon Registry, Commercial Fabric, CHAdeMO, ISO 50001
The Japanese government has released more information about its CHAdeMO EV quick-charging technology standardÂ â€“ for example, the shape of the plug that connects the car to the charger, and how to prevent electrocutions â€“ in order to encourage the adoption of the technology by more automakers. Toyota, Nissan and others jointly developed the charging infrastructure. Previously, the standard was available to some automakers and power companies, Autoblog Green said.
SCS Global Services has verified the Brazilian Boa Vista Afforestation/Reforestation carbon offset project under the American Carbon Registry standard. The project sequesters greenhouse gases with the management of tree plantations on more than 23,000 hectares of degraded pastureland in the northern Brazilian state of Roraima, SCS said.

ANSI has recognized the Building Performance Institute asÂ a certifying body after BPI earned ISO 17024 accreditation for its Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer (RBE-WH-ALCI) certification. The RBE-WH-ALCI certification is the first of BPI’sÂ certifications to complete the ANSI accreditation process. Its exam verifies a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities to tighten the building envelope to reduce energy loss from air leakage, BPI said.
UL Environment has completed anÂ Environmental Claim Validation for CertainTeed AirRenew Indoor Air Quality Gypsum Board products. Specifically, UL Environment confirmed four product claims: permanent formaldehyde absorption capacity, mold resistance, recycled content, and regional materials. The Environmental Claim Validations apply to AirRenew, AirRenew Extreme Abuse, and AirRenew Extreme Impact IAQ Gypsum Boards, CertainTeed said.
UL DQS said it has received accreditation by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board for its occupational health and safety management systems OHSAS 18001 program. The company may now verify, to the standard, programs to identify workplace hazards and promote safe and healthy work environments.
Crude oil refinery Attock Refinery Limited has achieved compliance to the ISO 50001 standard, making it the first refinery in Pakistan to earn the certification. ARL was also the first refinery in the country to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards, writes Pakistan’s Daily Times.
Volkswagen Chattanooga said that its facility in TennesseeÂ has met requirements of ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications. It is the first Volkswagen facility to receive dual certification and the first automotive company to do so in a first-production year, the company said. TUV USA and Germany TUV conducted the audit.
