Standards & Compliance Briefing: CCS Framework, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, LEED, ANSI/AIHA Z10
DNV KEMA has launched a certification framework to help carbon capture and storage projectsÂ manage tasksÂ related to permitting, stakeholder support and internal decision gate requirements. The new framework builds on preceding DNV KEMA guidelines for CO2 storage and consists of two documentsÂ â€“ RP J203 for the selection, qualification and management of geological storage sites, andÂ DSS 402, which defines statements of feasibility and endorsement that may be issued in accordance with RP J203,Â the Norwegian risk management company said.
New England Biolabs said it has received recertification for ISO 14001 in recognition of its EMS performance in a third-party audit conducted by NQA, USA. NEB first earned the certification in 2009. The company said that its efficiency initiatives include the implementation of a wastewater purification and reclamation system, and construction of a LEED-certified production facility.
Power resistor manufacturer Cressall has been awarded ISO 14001 accreditation for its energy efficiency processes and systems. The Leicester-based company started taking steps towards earning the certificate in January 2010, writes Electronics Manufacture & Test.
Management certification and sustainability assurance provider CICS said that it has won the contract to certify National University Ireland Galwayâ€™s energy management system to ISO 50001. The certification will cover more than 110,000 square meters of buildings on the main campus including teaching, conference, laboratory and research facilities and should be completed in September 2012, the company said.
The Crash Pad hostel in Chattanooga, Tenn., has earned LEED Platinum to become the city’s fourth building to reach the platinum level. The hostel features on-site solar panels, a green roof, use of reclaimed building materials, and greywater filtration systems, The Chattanoogan writes.
The Airlie Conference Center in Warrenton, Va., has earned LEED Gold certification for extensive renovations to the Pavilion. The 2,800-sq.-ft. octagonal building features 360-degree views with retractable glass doors, and is the largest of the 17 conference areas on the Airlie campus, the Enquirer Herald said.
The Pittsburgh headquarters of polymer and high-performance plastics producer Bayer MaterialScience earned LEED Commercial Interior Gold certification for a renovated office building on its campus. The renovation included the installation of more energy-efficient systems for heating, cooling and plumbing, as well as use of sustainable construction materials, many of which feature Bayer products, the company said.
The old Cambridge City Hall in Ontario has earned LEED Gold certification from the Green Building Council of Canada. Features of the renovated building include a four-story wall of vines that purifies air, a green roof, a 10,000-liter stormwater collection system, and lighting upgrades, Construction Source said.
The recently approved ANSI/AIHA Z10-2012 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems standard has been released,Â containing management principles and systems to help organizations continuously improve their occupational health and safety performance, Occupational Health & Safety Online writes.
