Contract Wins: Desalitech, National Parks, Chevin Fleet, Itron

Technology company Itron is to provide its automated water metering products to the Las Vegas Valley Water District and the City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department. In Las Vegas, the contract includes nearly 400,000 Itron water communication modules for residential and commercial customers as well as Itron’s mobile collection system, field collection system software and overall project management. The San Diego contract includes a citywide fixed-base communication network infrastructure, water communication modules for C&I meters and private cloud managed services.

The National Park Service has awarded a $1.3 million contract to Macnak Construction to upgrade the diversion pump station intake at an industrial water-treatment plant on the lower Elwha River in Olympic National Park, Wash., reports Peninsula Daily News. Fish screens and pumps at the plant – which treats water for municipal use, a Nippon Paper facility and other uses – were clogged with organic material and sediment. New intake screens should be operational by April, the paper reports.

Engineering, architecture, construction and consulting firm Burns & McDonnell has selected FleetWave from Chevin Fleet Solutions to handle the management of its nationally distributed fleet. Burns & McDonnell will be replacing its internally designed databases, non-integrated spreadsheets and labor-intensive manual processes with the web-based enterprise fleet management product Once implemented, FleetWave will provide information on fuel spend, maintenance scheduling and fleet utilization.

Water treatment solutions provider Desalitech is to supply a water purification system to the Kittansett Club golf course in Marion, Mass., where wells at the course that have historically supplied essential irrigation water are being impacted by accelerating seawater intrusion. Desalitech’s Closed Circuit Desalination reverse osmosis system will treat 100 gallons of well water per minute, varying from 1,000 to 10,000 parts per million of dissolved salts.

Seawater desalination membrane provider NanoH2O has been selected by Via Maris Desalination to provide QuantumFlux high rejection membranes for the expansion of the Palmachim desalination plant in Israel. The plant owner purchased QuantumFlux membranes for an existing 36,000 cubic meter capacity seawater RO train in 2012, and will commission two additional trains in 2013. These three trains will produce a combined total of 110,000 cubic meters of potable water per day.
