Contract Wins: NASA, Orica, Covanta, BAE Systems
NASA has awarded a contract to HPM to provide environmental engineering and occupational health services to the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. The firm-fixed price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract begins Nov. 1. It has a maximum value of $29.5 million with a potential performance period of five years.
Orica Limited, a mining services company, has selected Enablon to manage its safety, health, environment, community and sustainability initiatives worldwide. The Enablon platform to be implemented by Orica will enable, among other things, SHEC data management and reporting across all operations, health assessments and record management.
Sustainable waste management firm Covanta has agreed a 20-year agreement with the New York City Department of Sanitation to transport and sustainably dispose of municipal solid waste. Under the agreement Covanta will deliver 800,000 tons of waste per year to its waste-to-energy plants.
New Flyer Industries has selected BAE Systems’ HybriDrive propulsion system to power a fleet of new 60-foot, low-floor rapid transit buses for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, Calif. New Flyer will provide up to 29 articulated hybrid buses, or “bendy buses,” for the transit agency, with an option for up to 20 additional buses at a later date.
Liquid photo-purification company SurePure has entered into an agreement to purify Namaqua Wines. Under the agreement, SurePure’s technology will be employed to process Namaqua’s grape juice concentrate, providing SurePure with an entry into the bulk wine market.
Fuel Tech Inc. has received four air pollution control contracts from new unnamed customers in China, and one from an unnamed a US-based customer. These awards have a combined value of approximately $5.7 million. The Chinese orders were for emission reduction technology for various coal-fired boilers at petrochemical, cement and industrial power generation facilities. The US order is for a Selective Catalytic Reduction system for an industrial gas-fired boiler at a fertilizer production facility.
