Environmental Executive Moves: GRI, LanzaTech, Recyclebank, Baswood

Global Reporting Initiative: The issuer of sustainability reporting guidelines has elected institutional investor Christianna Wood as its chairman. Previously, Wood oversaw the management of the $150 billion global equity portfolio of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. GRI has also appointed five new members to its board of directors. Incoming board member Eric Hespenheide — who will also chair GRI’s Technical Advisory Committee — was previously a senior partner at Deloitte & Touche. Alexandra Watson is a professor in the accounting department at the University of Cape Town. Pavan Sukhdev is founder and CEO of GIST Advisory, a consulting firm that advises governments on natural and human capital. Roberto de Ocampo is founding partner of Centennial Group International and chairman of Centennial Asia Advisors. Manfred Warda is currently a member of a number of different supervisory boards in Germany, where he has contributed to government-led sustainability initiatives.

Recyclebank:  The company that rewards people for recycling with discounts and deals has named Anurag Jain as its chief technology officer. Jain joins Recyclebank from health information provider WebMD, where he most recently served as vice president of engineering over analytics and data services products.

Baswood Corporation: The wastewater treatment systems provider has named Kendall Yorn as senior vice president. Prior to joining Baswood, Kendall was senior vice president for Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

Proterro: The biofeedstock company has named Timothy Cooper vice president of engineering. Prior to joining Proterro, Cooper was responsible for Eastman Chemical Company’s biotechnology effort.

JK Group: The environmental software company has named Hesha Patel as director of marketing and Angel Obregon as creative director. Prior to this role, Patel served as director of marketing for Activu. Obregon previously worked in another role at JK Group.

Center for Climate and Energy Solutions: The nonprofit’s president and founder, Eileen Claussen, has announced plans to step down. Claussen plans to remain actively involved with body while it seeks her replacement.

LanzaTech: The low carbon fuels producer has named Jim Messina to its board of directors. Messina was campaign manager for President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

CleanTech Innovations: The clean technology product manufacturer has named Terry K. McEwen as an independent member of the company’s board of directors, chairman of the audit committee, and member of the nominating and compensation committees. McEwen served as the director of banking for the state of New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance during the financial crisis from May 2006 to May 2010.
