Environmental Executive Moves: Sealed Air, Universal Lubricants, GSE

Universal Lubes logoHere’s the latest news on hirings, promotions and departures among environmental leaders.

Sealed Air: The packaging manufacturer has hired James Whaley as vice president, corporate communications and sustainability. Whaley most recently worked at Siemens North America where he was senior vice president, corporate communications and marketing, and chairman of the Siemens Foundation.

Universal Lubricants: The sustainable engine oil company has promoted Ned Murray to vice president of environmental services. Murray was a vice president with Shamrock Environmental prior to joining Universal Lubricants in April 2012.

CenterPoint Energy: The energy company’s board of directors has named chief operating officer Scott M. Prochazka as its new CEO. Prochazka, who joined CenterPoint in 2001 from Dow Chemical, succeeds David McClanahan, who will step down as CEO and president at the end of the year.

GSE Holding: The geosynthetic lining manufacturer has appointed Charles A. Sorrentino, a current member of the board and interim president and CEO, as the company’s permanent president and CEO. The company has also named Daniel Storey as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Storey had served as vice president, chief accounting officer and corporate controller of GSE since May of this year. Prior to joining GSE, Storey served in numerous senior management positions within Hewlett Packard’s global accounting network.

Community Recycling: The clothing recycler has named Lance Charen vice president of business development and partnerships. Charen joins Community Recycling after numerous years at FCC Environmental in Wilmington, Del.

Arcadis: The global engineering and consulting firm has appointed Jim Bausano and Bashar Eljawhari to its oil and gas division. Bausano joins from CH2M Hill. Eljawhari joins from Ernst & Young.

AMEC: The engineering and project management company has appointed Geoff Price and David Chance as technical directors in its European environment and infrastructure business. Both join from the waste and renewable energy business Covanta Energy.

CHM2 Hill: The consulting and construction group has announced that Dr. Andrew Garrabrants will be joining its Nashville, Tenn., office in January as a subject matter expert in stabilization and solidification. Garrabrants is currently a research associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at Vanderbilt University.

American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy: The nonprofit has appointed Janice Berman of Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Denise Fairchild of Emerald Cities Collaborative, and Clay Nesler of Johnson Controls to ACEEE’s board of directors.

Frac Water Systems: The water and energy services company has appointed Stuart Sundlun to its board of directors. Currently, Sundlun is the vice chairman of private equity firm BMB Group.
