Green Fleet: Toyota, Ford, Nissan, PECO, ClipperCreek, Clean Air Power
Toyota’s first commercial zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle will be on display at the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival before going on sale in early 2015 in the Japanese domestic market. The sedan will be available in the summer of 2015 in both Europe and in the state of California.
Ford is lowering the fuel economy ratings for its 2013- and 2014-model year hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as well as most 2014-model year Fiestas. Ford identified an error with the ratings through internal testing and notified the EPA, which is working with Ford to retest the vehicles to determine the correct fuel economy ratings.
Nissan’s first all-electric, zero-emissions commercial vehicle, the e-NV200 (pictured), will go on sale in October 2014 at Nissan dealers throughout Japan. Based on the NV200, a multi-purpose commercial van, the e-NV200 will be able to supply electrical power remotely, giving it added utility in the field as a mobile power source. In addition, Nissan is working with Portland General Electric on a six-week trial to help determine the viability of the e-NV200 for the US market.
PECO added 22 new Terex XT55 hybrid bucket trucks, expanding the company’s fleet of green vehicles to 788. The vehicles feature the Odyne plug-in hybrid power system, which allows users to operate auxiliary equipment at a work site without the truck’s engine power.
ClipperCreek’s $395 Level 2, 240V EV charging station is available for immediate delivery from the factory in Auburn, Calif. The station has 22 feet of charging cable and a “no strings attached” three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Clean Air Power has announced that its US Genesis-EDGE Dual-Fuel test engine has met all EPA emission requirements in internal testing at company facilities in Leyland, UK. The test engine will now be transferred to the US for formal and independent testing by Ricardo Inc.
