Americans Want Companies to Weight In on Climate Change
Some 57 percent of Americans want corporations to weigh in on climate change, according to the 2014 Public Affairs Pulse survey.
The survey found strong majorities of Americans want corporations to take a greater role in solving the country’s biggest problems by speaking out on environmental and civil rights issues and improving health care, education and other community services.
Seventy-five percent of respondents call environmental responsibility a very important priority.
Only 41 percent of Americans trust the federal government to solve the country’s most pressing problems, and three-quarters say it’s important for major companies to help on this front.
Another report published last week found climate change offers significant opportunities for companies positioned to help clients prepare for its consequences.
The report by Environmental Business International looks at how service providers are positioning their companies to work in this sector and also at the challenges involved in pioneering adaptation work.
