Volvo Trucksâ€™ 2016 VN series highway tractors will offer greater fuel savings compared with previous generation models. Sculpting of airflow around the exterior and underneath the hood improves fuel efficiency by up to 3.5 percent, and Volvoâ€™s new XE-Adaptive Gearing and Torque Management options can provide fuel efficiency improvements of more than 2.5 percent.
Renault-Nissan and Mitsubishi have announced a partnership to build small electric vehicles for the Japanese market. The first kei car EV from the project is due in fiscal year 2016 and will potentially be priced at 1.5 million yen (around $14,700).
Chevron Products has released its new line of Clarity Synthetic EA Hydraulic and Gear Oils for the marine industry and other applications where leaks or accidental discharge are a concern. These products meet the new EPA Vessel General Permit requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants.
Greenlots has partnered with BMW Group Asia to provide Singapore with its first home and public charging network as part of BMW‘s 360 degree Electric program. The network is based on the Open Charge Point Protocol and will provide BMW i owners and Singapore EV drivers with the infrastructure necessary to support the country’s growing EV adoption.
Boeing, South African Airways and SkyNRG are collaborating to make sustainable aviation biofuel from a new type of tobacco plant. Test farming of the hybrid plant Solaris, which is effectively nicotine-free, is underway in South Africa with biofuel production expected from large and small farms in the next few years.
Blu. says Interstate Distributor has signed an agreement to purchase 10 liquid natural gas-fueled trucks, which is the first LNG deployment by a national freight carrier within the Pacific Northwest. Interstate Distributor signed the deal after testing LNG through Blu.â€™s demo truck program.
