Carbon Pollution Rules Comment Period Extended

The EPA has extended the comment period for the proposed Clean Power Plan to Dec. 1.

The comment period for the carbon emissions rules was originally scheduled to end Oct. 16.

The extension comes a week after 53 senators sent a letter to EPA chief Gina McCarthy last week calling for more time to allow the public to weigh in on the proposed regulations. The senators wanted an extra 60 days; they got 45.

“Because of the strong amount of interest we’ve seen from stakeholders, we are announcing today that we are extending the comment period for an additional 45 days,” EPA acting administrator for air and radiation Janet McCabe told reporters, according to the Wall Street Journal.
