Hurrifex Komptech Turns Waste into Recyclables

HurrifexThe Komptech Hurrifex puts a stone separator and wind sifter into a single machine, allowing stones, inert and light items to be removed from a wide variety of material streams in a single work step. The company says this makes it easier to turn waste into recyclables, the company says.

The Hurrifex removes stones and light items from material streams with a separation rate of up to 95 percent.

Separation requires just one process on one machine, saving space, material handling effort, energy costs and transportation costs, the company says.

The Hurrifex gets stones and plastic film out of biomass. It also separates film and wood materials out of stone fractions.

Another application is cleaning up screen overflow from compost. The cleaned overflow can be returned to the compost as structure material. Doing this prevents the accumulation of stones and plastic that often happens when material is returned multiple times. The cleaned screen overflow can naturally also be used as a biomass fuel.

Waste wood processing offers many promising applications, as does mixed construction waste processing. In the latter, wood and light fractions are separated from the heavier mineral fractions, enabling subsequent processing of each specific fraction.

In accordance with Komptech’s green efficiency criteria, the Hurrifex is designed to get maximum performance from minimum energy, the company says.

  1. As more consumers are aware of environmental issues, businesses are increasingly expected to be environmental stewards. Companies need to do a better job of quantifying and translating their tangible sustainability results to their consumers. It is important to communicate accurate information to consumers in a way that helps consumers understand the real threats and how everyone plays a role and can benefit from recycling efforts.

  2. Turning wastes into recyclables is a great thing. Every day, millions of tons of waste is generated in the process of producing and transporting packaging materials. Consumers are likely already aware of these environmental issues through the media. They want to know where a brand’s packaging material has been sourced from, what materials have been used for packaging, or whether the packaging can be recycled.
