US Steel Fights Environmental Rules for MN Mine

US Steel is trying to stop Minnesota officials from enforcing new environmental standards that affect taconite mines in the state, Minnesota Public Radio reports.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will propose the new rules when it releases a draft environmental permit for US Steel’s Minntac Facility in Mountain Iron.

Company exectutives, in letters to the state Pollution Control Agency, say the standards would create a “significant hardship.”
