BASFBASF Crop Protection says between now and 2019 it plans to introduce 45 new sustainable agriculture products to help growers increase yield potential and grow healthier, more abundant crops.

The company says it is investing more than $1.5 million into research and development to make this happen.

The announcement comes as BASF kicks off its 150th anniversary year in the US.

Last fall BASF developed a new process for steering its portfolio based on sustainability criteria.

The Sustainable Solution Steering method is used to systematically review and evaluate the sustainability aspects of the about 50,000 relevant product applications in the company’s portfolio, which represent sales of 56 billion euros ($72 billion).
