Raven Transport is expanding its natural gas fleet with 115 Peterbilt Model 579s (pictured), powered by liquefied natural gas. Clean Energy Fuels will support the fleet by opening truck-friendly LNG fueling stations in Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Pearl, Mississippi; and Theodore, Alabama, and deploying mobile LNG fueling units in Eden, North Carolina; Newnan, Georgia; Ocala, Florida; and Pineville, Louisiana.

Cummins has released the results the Advanced Technology Light Automotive Systems (ATLAS) program, a four-year program initiated with the DOE to develop a commercially viable diesel engine for the half-ton pickup truck market that is capable of meeting future Tier 2 Bin 2 emissions regulations and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) requirements out to the year 2025. The resulting engine demonstrated a 53 percent increase in CAFE fuel economy at 28.9 mpg, compared with the production gasoline V8 fuel economy of 18.9 mpg.

Dean Foods is deploying 57 CNG Freightliner M2-112 straight trucks and 7 Freightliner Cascadia over-the-road tractors powered by the Cummins ISL-G and ISX12-G engines, respectively, and outfitted with Agility CNG fuel tanks. Clean Energy Fuels is constructing a CNG station at Dean Foods’ Oak Farms Dairy Plant in Houston, Texas, to fuel the vehicles.

Kenworth has developed predictive cruise control combined with GPS, a Driver Shift Aid and a Driver Performance Assistant to help truck drivers improve their fuel economy.

Peterbilt has introduced the Model 337 and the Model 348 medium-duty vehicles powered by compressed natural gas. Both vehicles can be configured as trucks or tractors.

Tritium has signed an exclusive US contract with electric vehicle charging network ChargePoint. Under the contract, ChargePoint is installing Tritium Veefil DC fast charging stations across the country.
