Recycling PartnershipThe Recycling Partnership, formally known as Curbside Value Partnership, has selected three new cities to join the list of community partners.

The industry initiative, which aims to improve US curbside recycling, was founded last year and includes partner companies and organizations such as Alcoa Foundation, American Forest & Paper Association, the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers, Ball Corporation, Coca-Cola and Waste Management.

The three cities — which will be announced when contracts are finalized — are located in the Southwest, the upper Midwest and the Southeast. They were selected out of the 2015 Recycling Partnership Request for Proposals process.

They will receive grant dollars to support the full transition to recycling roll carts and to implement an education campaign to support cart delivery.  The cities will also receive technical assistance around education and operations, ensuring that when residents start to use their carts they are delivering quality materials to market.

The partnership says its inaugural city partners have made progress in implementing their program changes. The city of Florence, Alabama recently completed cart distribution to all serviced households. The city of Richmond, Virginia rolled out 6,000 carts in January and will complete rollout before the end of the calendar year. The city of Columbia, South Carolina will begin delivering carts later this summer.
