MACH_HySpecMachinex has introduced an optical sorting machine, the MACH Hyspec.

The MACH Hyspec uses a high-speed, short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral detection system. The different models available can detect different material types, such as plastics (PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS, etc.) and fiber products, including carton containers, wood products and wood by grade (natural versus painted). The optical sorter is also capable of color recognition and can be used as a metal detector.

It can be used in different types of material recovery facilities, such as single-stream, construction and demolition, municipal solid waste and other applications.

The MACH Hyspec uses a high-speed detection system that takes less than 1 millisecond to analyze the belt, and has a depth field detection of 430 mm. The optical detection system has no moving parts. The risk of fire is reduced to a minimum by a patent-pending light system technology that creates diffused light that generates low heat on the material passing through the sorter.
