Industrial Stormwater Best Management Practices Revealed

If it’s not managed, stormwater can disrupt businesses across a range of industries from construction to manufacturing to oil and gas to agriculture.

Rainfall, snow, sleet and hail can cause flooding, damage equipment and supplies and otherwise halt processes and production — if not managed well.

An Industrial Water World article examines the best practices for industrial sites to manage and treat stormwater as well as meet environmental regulations. These include real-time, in-the-field approaches such as electronic reporting and data streamlining; advanced treatment technologies like stormwater filtration and sanitation systems; and rainwater prevention and displacement techniques such as green infrastructure and low-impact development that are all effective in mitigating stormwater challenges.

Well-planned stormwater management can have other business benefits, too. Earlier this month a Pennsylvania car dealership said it increased sales while meeting environmental requirements with a new stormwater management system.
