Safe DrainAmerican Airlines has installed seven Safe Drain inserts into key storm drains at its largest hub, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, to help it comply with federal Clean Water Act regulations regarding stormwater pollution prevention.

Safe Drain stainless steel inserts were installed at American’s cabin service facility on the airport’s east side to prevent potential spills from aircraft lavatory service trucks going into nearby storm drains.

“Fines and clean-up costs associated with spills of non-permitted materials into storm drain systems has become a more prominent risk among aviation companies in recent years,” said John Deming, CEO of Safe Drain.

The Safe Drain patented insert enables any storm drain to be isolated via a built-in shut-off valve.

Earlier this year Alta Environmental won a multiyear, $1,010,000 contract to help the Port of Long Beach and its tenants implement a stormwater monitoring program at 22 sites throughout the port complex.
