An April 2015 study commissioned by SC Johnson from GlobeScan, Implications of SC Johnson Ingredients and Fragrance Disclosure, found that consumers appreciate transparency and want to know what is in the products they use. Nearly three-quarters of respondents surveyed indicated that they would choose a company that provides access to detailed lists of its air care products’ ingredients versus a company that does not.

Fisk Johnson, chairman and CEO of SC Johnson, said the increased transparency is “vital to building consumer trust and credibility.”

Consumers can access product-specific fragrance information on WhatsInsideSCJohnson.com, the company’s ingredient disclosure website, or by calling the company’s consumer product helpline. Consumers can access fragrance ingredients present at the highest concentrations down to .09 percent of the product formula, or the top 10 ingredients when there are at least 20 ingredients, whichever provides the most information. Detailed fragrance information can be accessed by clicking on the word “fragrance” in the list of product ingredients.

SC Johnson announced the decision to expand its ingredient disclosure efforts in October 2014. In December 2014, the company published its “restricted use” ingredients — chemicals and other materials the company limits or has banned in its products to protect human health and the environment.
