The companies are urging New Yorkers in selected zip codes and targeted load areas who are using 25 or more incandescent light bulbs in their buildings (table lamps excluded) to sign up for free Compact Fluorescent Lamps. From now until February 15, 2007, the program will pay eligible customers for each replaced incandescent bulb by its wattage.
Operation Kill-A-Watt will service areas of Manhattan including energy hot spots like the Theater District and Times Square. In Queens, Operation Kill-A-Watt is available in many neighborhoods such as Howard Beach, South Ozone Park, and Forest Hills. In Brooklyn, areas that are eligible include Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Wyckoff Heights, Cypress Hills, East New York, Brownsville, Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg, and Bushwick. In early 2007, Operation Kill-A-Watt will be available in selected areas of Westchester County.
