The city of Phoenix has replaced its traditional lighting with compact flourescents and is saving more than $600,000 annually on its energy bills, The Business Journal of Phoenix reports (via Jetson Green).
Mayor Phil Gordon said the city has put more efficient CFLs in 95 percent of its buildings including City Hall, libraries and fire stations.
The program is part of a $1.2 million one-time city investment in reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
