GM Reports, Again, that Energy Use is Down

General Motors is once again pointing out that it has cut its energy use by 25 percent and added solar and landfill gas as energy sources at its North American facilities over the past five years, Associated Press reports (via the Houston Chronicle). According to our story, and a press release, the same news was released in September.

GM said it has cut its energy use in the region from 94 trillion BTUs in 2002, to a projected 72.5 trillion BTUs by the end of 2006.

GM points to its Service Parts Operations Parts Distribution Center in Rancho Cucamonga, California, as an example of its commitment to the envronment. The center is the nation’s largest, corporate solar photovoltaic installation. At least until Google finishes its installation.

GM shares rose 11 cents to $29.56 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
